Wow! I love mushrooms...the fact they loom up over night and look so alien. We have a fairy ring in the garden....just magical.
One day i'm going to enroll on one of those weekends courses where you stay in a cosy hotel...up the crack of dawn and learn about edible mushrooms/cooking them outdoors. (-:

these are amazing Heather! we had a great walk in the woods on Saturday too and I photographed a few. Such a wonderful array of shapes and colours. I like the 4th photo down. Makes me think of a lead singer with a backing group : )

LOL Aileen I can see what you mean
;-)
Joy, don't encourage me. I've just knitted something functional for the first time in ages, a cozy for MrNifty's phone.

i am envious of your fungi count. Our local authority has just 'upgraded' our woodland path into a bridleway. Its horrible and they've dumped load of hardcore onto the margins where the toadstools grew.

Oh Jackie - what a shame. I think the reason we saw so many is that this is a new public footpath opened up through some privately-owned woodlands. There is already a fair bit of litter (why do litterers always seem to drink red bull or fosters?) so I doubt there will be so many in a couple of years time :-(

Wow, what a superb variety of shrooms, Heather - thanks so much for sharing them. My hubby keeps asking if I know where to see them, he'd so love to go mushroom spotting, and I have no idea - care to share the place? Promise we won't bring any Red Bull or Fosters (or hardcore rubble)...

These particular toadies are in walking distance of my home in Tenterden, kent - so if you want to come walk with us, you're more than welcome!
