...or two!
I was hanging around on twitter yesterday when one of my friends @craftedgems let me know she'd spotted me in Let's Knit magazine - woohoo!
Funnily enough the piece mentions the previous world tour giveaway - pop back soon to find out how to win Alchemy, who has just returned from his tour of the States.
When I got to the newsagents it was all sealed up in plastic wrapping so I couldn't do my usual flick through. The kind shop assistant agreed to open it up to check it was the right issue (July, in case you want one!) and I duly handed over my cash. I noticed a couple of other folksy sellers mentioned this month: apart from my shop
I've found this Donut pattern from Lynne's Pattern Parlour
and Sparkly resin knitting needles from Pennydog
I've also learnt that my tried-and-tested cast-on method is known as the "cable cast on" and *shock horror* I quite fancy having a go at one of the patterns in this month's issue, a bookmark with beads "knitted in", I've often wondered how that works. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? :-)
There was a free gift with the magazine...it's a "notions case". I'd love to hear what you think a "notion" is, cos I haven't got a clue! Whatever they are, they're not very big if they need to fit in this little case.
My final picture is of some gorgeous lampwork beads from craftedgems - if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have known about the magazine feature!

Lovely post Heather. Congratulations to you and all the other Folksy sellers on being in this magazine! A notions case? hmmm....my notions all float around in my head, like I'll have a notion for cheesecake on a day or a notion to work in felt when I should be making cards. I can't imagine training my notions to go and live in a case, no matter how pretty!
LOL - who was that lady who used to be on TV years ago, dog training? *SIT*
Cograts on being in the mag. Your meerkats are great! Well deserved
Gemxxx
Perhaps it's for a miiiiiiillion stitch markers? ;)
chambers english dictionary says: any small article ingeniously devised or invented, usually in pl.(plural) - so there you have it, they are small, as you rightly guessed.
I agree, a million stitch markers. Or, possibly, is it the size of a crochet hook?
So keen to have a go at knitting those donuts, wait a minute I just want a donut, great choices,
Millie
That's a great post Heather - I spotted your meekat too in LK. Thanks for featuring my donuts, they looked great in print. Well done all round and here's to more featured knits.Lynnexx
the little bag is the right size for crochet hooks, you're right TheHookery, but the label on it said it was for notions. not big enough for a secret donut store.
and I've never found a use for stitch markers.
How wonderful for you!!! Cute finds!!
Nifty, this post is full of cool stuff - Love the notions case! And those sparkly needles are awesome! And the donuts, well they make me want to break my diet, but what diet?! And the beads look good enough to eat, too!
Congrats on the feature :)
Hmmm...it's a cute case...wonder if my mum would like a knittng magazine...? (Me no knit. Can't manage two pointy steel things at once. Not without bloodshed and swearing)
Of course the Meerkats are mentioned! They're mentioned every where now don't ya know.
It's that whole world domination thing you got going on, hehe.
Congrats for the feature, it looks very cool :-)
so glad your meerkats are known far and wide....they are soooo cute!
well done Heather! Looks like a pencil case to me :)
Dog training lady = Barbara Woodhouse ;-)
Congratulations - world domination continues apace I see!
Congratulations Heather, one more step towards world domination for the Meerkats!! And great that a couple of other Folksy sellers were in there also.
Helen S, thank you for remembering the name of the dog training lady - that would have been driving me nuts for the rest of the day...!
thank you - yes, and thanks Helen! I can hear the voice, and picture the lady, but just couldn't think of her name!
